Dr Amina Douidi
I am an educator by training and a consultant by trade. I find that the term "consultant" is very rarely used by female experts, being judged as "too much." I, too, sometimes tone it down, using terms such as "adviser" or "specialist," especially when working with fellow teachers. However, "consultant" is most fitting when working with clients who consult me on topics related to my areas of expertise: intercultural education, inclusive practices, decolonial and anti-racist approaches to education, and language teaching and learning. All these areas fall under the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI), and Interculturality umbrella. The DEI or EDI concepts are not perfect, but that's what the business world is using at the moment. This may change in the future.
I am a PhD graduate from the University of Southampton, UK. You can read my thesis [here]. I am an Erasmus Mundus alumna having studied at the University of Balearic islands, Spain and my home university will always be Tlemcen University, Algeria, no matter where I end up. Currently, I am studying to become an EDI fellow of the Institute of Educational and Social Justice. I will make sure to share updates about my experience after the completion of my qualification degree.
As you've probably seen on my Home page, I offer three main services to publishers and education providers: 1) DEI reviews, 2) strategy and research, and 3) training and public speaking. Please reach out even if you have projects that don't necessarily fall under these three categories. I read somewhere that it's a good business practice to have three services outlined in your website. It's called the power of three. It resonated with me as a lifelong Charmed fan.
